Remembering Clyde

Clyde left us a year ago today (well, technically it was 2/29 but since there is not 2/29 this year, we figured 3/1 would be the remembrance day on off-leap years).
I finished his album many months ago but have yet to write his poem. I wanted to have it done by this point in time, but, it's just not coming to me. And, you can't rush these things.
So, for now, I'll content myself with thinking about Our Sweet Pal while I look at Pete and Lily and see their future spread out ahead of them. Hopefully, many many years; and, just as hopefully, as wonderful as ours were with Clyde.

i never got to know nigel very well. back in those days, i lived in washington plus nathaniel and i were just starting to date, i never really saw him much. of coarse i liked him because #1 he was a cat, and #2 he was orange.

but clyde, i remember clyde. he was so soft, and he had the most amazing green eyes. i remember the first time i met him (christmas? birthdays?), you lived in the condo, and he came out from under the bed for me to rub (nigel would have no part of it). and he purred - he purred for me. maybe he purred for everyone who visited, but he made ME feel special like he was just doing it for me. he is probably the first non-orange cat that i really really liked.

it was so sad when he passed away, i think the saddest part was that you were gone, because i knew that had to be hard on you (and mark). but i think clyde had a plan about that, he knew that was a good time to do it, no fuss, no drama.

and pete and [repete]lily, well they've filled those paws pretty well, i think. don't you think that nigel and clyde whisper funny secrets about you into their dreams at night when they sleep? (i mean, during the day when they sleep?) like... "if you really want to have some of her cheese, tilt your head to the left 30 degrees, squint your eyes ever so slightly, lick your lips, purr, and then meow like you're saying "mom" - that'll win you a piece every time!!!"

Thank you for your sweet comment, Analee. I like the thought of N&C whispering into P&L's ears. I think C must have also told P to really give "THAT DOG" hell (since he never did but probably wishes he had). Pete is forever tormenting Lucy! He pounces on her tail, scratches her back legs, and washes her head. And, Lily likes to chew on Lucy's gums.
Funny, huh?
