Our Pool Got Some Pre Season Use!

Jon and Shannon's girls came over last Saturday for a swim date in Aunt Mamie and Uncle Mark's pool. Talk about courageous! BRRR! Well, I guess the water wasn't that cold (76) but too cold for THIS gal!

Sophie really took to jumping in and out of the pool (from a step, not the ledge). She swam, swam, swam and pretended to be both a mermaid and a Princess (Sophia) or maybe both.

Sister JJ was fine in the water (but had a lot more fun playing with the beach ball; dribbling it all over the lanai).

Inspecting Al.E.Gator (the only gator allowed in my pool!)

Unfortunately, Uncle Mark wasn't there to see all the fun. When Grammy and Grandpa showed up later, she asked Sophie if she was having a good time with Aunt Mamie and Uncle Mark, to which Sophie replied, "No Mark. He's not here today!".

After swimming and dinner, the girls settled down to watch a few DVDs; The Little Mermaid (of course!) and then The Aristocats.

Sacked out and engrossed.

I sure did enjoy seeing the girls! They grow up FAST!

Pets, Kiddies and The Beach

Ok, ENOUGH sadness!

Below are shots of some happy times!

The other day, I ran around getting pictures of all the pets; some turned out better than others (they do not always all cooperate!); in particular, Apollo and Pete were quite photogenic and playful this session.

My brother is visiting with his twin three year old girls. Yesterday, we went to Siesta Beach for several hours. In case you were not aware, Siesta Beach is currently the #1 beach in the U.S.! It is very lovely; white sand, blue water. But, it was also incredibly crowded. Next time, we'll leave earlier. We still had a lot of fun, though. After, we headed over to the RV resort park where mom and dad are staying for the winter to hang out by the pool.

All in all, a great day!

Thanksgiving 2009

Mr. B had great fun with niece Jacqueline yesterday; pampering, spoiling, feeding...and then back over to mom and dad for diaper changing :-)

Halloween

I am a bit remiss on posting this entry!
We ended up going over to brother Jon's Saturday to go trick or treating with them, the girls and my mom and dad (followed by adult conversation, beverages, and dinner). I can't remember the last time I went out trick or treating; I'm pretty sure it may have been when I used to take my brothers out years and years ago in Tierrasanta.
Anyway, Shannon made the girls' costumes. Sophie was an angel (complete with halo and harp) and Jacqueline was a devil (with a pitch fork that she did not like and a cute little devil's tail). No, it is not really indicative of their personalities (their mom and dad assuring everyone who asked along the route of this!)
Sophie got into the gig pretty quickly; she figured out that people were giving her something good, even though she wasn't sure what (having no concept of what candy is) or that she wouldn't be eating any of it (that task going to her mom and dad).

After the first house, she somehow dropped her candy bar and realized it; starting to fret until Uncle Mark went back and found it.
She was quite possessive of her little pail.
Jacqueline, on the other hand, was not really thrilled with what was going on. She was definitely not impressed with Grammy's witch costume
and was entirely freaked out by Grandpa (no one knows, incidentally, what, exactly, he was supposed to be!)

BTW, I DID attempt to wear something of a costume; I had a shirt I bought that said "Trick or Treat" and I found a deeply discounted long wig and a kitty mask at Kroger. However, the long wig got tangled up plus the cats were following me around trying to climb up the hair and the kitty mask mashed my eyelashes so forget that.
Mr. B said he should have brought his 10-key so that he could have been a CPA. How original!
